Traffic Regulation Order 1998 and Parking Places Order 1993 (Jesmond Area Variation) Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that Newcastle City Council propose to make an Order under sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and an Order under sections 32, 45, 46, 49, 53 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.   The effect of the proposed Orders is as follows:   (a) to revoke all existing waiting and parking restrictions in the area of Jesmond bounded by Great North Road, Osborne Road/Lily Crescent, Jesmond Road and Fairfield Road and replace them with the restrictions detailed in (b) and (c) below:   (b) to introduce the following waiting restrictions:       (i)  no waiting at any time, on various lengths of Brandling Park, Lambton Road, Brandling Place South, Unnamed Back Lane (between Back Brandling Park (East) and East Front), Back Brandling Place South, Back Clayton Park Square, Clayton Park Square, Back Clayton Road (South), Back Brandling Park, Clayton Road, Back Abbotsford Terrace, East Front, Abbotsford Terrace, Burdon Terrace, Back Clayton Road North, Kingsland, Back Kingsland (North), Back Eslington Terrace (West), Eskdale Terrace, Back Eslington Road, Eslington Terrace, Eslington Road, Haldane Terrace, Tankerville Terrace, Otterburn Terrace, Back Haldane Terrace (North), Back Otterburn Terrace (West), Back Tankerville Place (North), Henshelwood Terrace and Back Henshelwood Terrace (North).       (ii)  Prohibition of waiting 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. All Days, on various lengths of Back Brandling Park South, Back Clayton Road (South), Clayton Road, East Front, Back Eslington Terrace (West), Back Eslington Road (North), Back Eslington Road (south of Lifton House and Eskdale Terrace);   (c) to introduce the following parking restrictions:       (i)  on street charged bays (20p per hour), on various lengths of Brandling Park, Lambton Road, Burdon Terrace, Eskdale Terrace, Eslington Road, Back Eslington Road (south of Lifton House), Eslington Terrace and Tankerville Terrace.       (ii)  £30 Fixed daily charge bays (8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.) with exemptions to the charge for permit holders, on various lengths of Brandling Park and Back Brandling Park (south of Lambton Road).       (iii)  £30 Fixed daily charge bays (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) with exemptions to the charge for permit holders, on various lengths of Eskdale Terrace, Eslington Terrace and Eslington Road.       (iv)  £30 Fixed daily charge bays (all hours) with exemptions to the charge for permit holders, on a length of Back Lambton Road (South).       (v)  £30 Fixed daily charge bay (8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.) with exemptions to the charge for disabled badge holders, on a length of Back Brandling Park (north of Lambton Road).       (vi)  £30 Fixed daily charge bay (8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Monday to Saturday) with a maximum period of free parking of 2 hours to all vehicles. After 2 hours the fixed daily charge will apply to all vehicles except those displaying a valid permit—on a length of Clayton Road.       (vii)  £15 Fixed daily charge bays (9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.), with exemptions to the charge for permit holders on various lengths of Brandling Park, Lambton Road, Brandling Place South, South Front, Unnamed Back Lane (between Back Brandling Park (east) and East Front), Back Brandling Place South, Clayton Park Square, Back Brandling Park (north of Lambton Road), Clayton Road, Burdon Terrace, Back Clayton Road (North), Kingsland, Back Kingsland (North), Back Eslington Terrace (West), Eskdale Terrace, Eslington Terrace, Haldane Terrace, Tankerville Terrace, Otterburn Terrace, Back Haldane Terrace (North), Back Otterburn Terrace (West), Back Tankerville Place (South), Back Tankerville Place (North), Henshelwood Terrace and Back Henshelwood Terrace (North).   Full details are contained in the draft Order which, together with a map showing the restrictions and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined at the offices of the Department of Highways and Transportation, Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, Mondays to Fridays, 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.   Further information may be obtained by telephoning the above Department on 0191 232 8520, extension 6027.   If you wish to object to the proposed Order you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to the undersigned, quoting reference GH/P44/269, by 28th January 1998.
