Shepton Beauchamp Conservation Area

Notice is hereby given that South Somerset District Council has determined that the following area: the central part of Shepton Beauchamp including parts of North Street, Church Street, Love Lane and Great Lane is an area of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance and has accordingly designated the area as a conservation area to be known as the Shepton Beauchamp Conservation Area.   The designation of the area as a conservation area means that certain buildings within the conservation area may not be demolished without the consent of the South Somerset District Council and trees within the area may not be cut down, topped, lopped, uprooted or wilfully damaged in any way without the consent of the South Somerset District Council. Planning applications for development which are considered by the South Somerset District Council to affect the character or appearance of the conservation area will be subject to public consultation and any representations received will be taken into account before the applications are determined.   A map of the conservation area may be inspected during normal office hours at South Somerset District Council, Area North, Old Kelways, Somerton Road, Langport, Somerset TA10 9YE. Further information about the effect of the designation of the area as a conservation area may be obtained from Diccon Carpendale, Conservation Planner at the same offices.   The date of designation is 25th March 1998.
