UK/LESOTHO DOUBLE TAXATION CONVENTION

The revised comprehensive Double Taxation Convention between the U.K. and the Kingdom of Lesotho, which was signed in London on 29th January 1997, entered into force on 23rd December 1997. The text of the Convention has been published as the Schedule to the Double Taxation Relief (Taxes on Income) (Lesotho) Order 1997 (Statutory Instrument 1997 No. 2986), copies of which can be obtained from The Stationery Office. The text of the Order can also be accessed on the Internet at http://www.hmso.gov.uk.   The provisions of the Convention took effect in the U.K. from 1st April 1998 for corporation tax and from 6th April for income and capital gains tax; in Lesotho the provisions took effect from 1st April 1998.
