NOTICE OF PROPOSED COAST PROTECTION WORK

Bournemouth Borough Council, acting in their capacity as Coast Protection Authority hereby give notice under Section 5(1) of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection work along the Poole Bay coastline, Bournemouth over the next 17 years.

The Bournemouth Beach Management works involve the renewal of all life expired timber groynes and periodic beach renourishment using material from a licensed dredge area having similar characteristics to the native beach. The estimated cost of the works is £ 44,000,000 over 17 years.

Details of the proposed works (hard copies of plans etc) can be viewed at Customer Services Centre, St Stephen’s Road, Bournemouth, BH2 6EB which is open to the public during normal working hours (typically 09:00 to 16:00) Monday to Friday.

Any person may not later than 28 days following the publication of the notice can serve a notice of objection to the proposal on the Secretary of State and on the Council. Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be delivered to or sent by post, fax or e-mail to the Secretary of State and to the Chief Executive of the Council.

Notices to be posted may be addressed to the Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Flood Management, Ergon House, 17 Smith Square, London SW1P 3JR and to the Chief Executive at Bournemouth Borough Council, Town Hall, Bourne Avenue, Bournemouth, BH2 6DY.
