THE QUEEN has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 20 November 2017 to confer the dignity of a Barony of the United Kingdom for life upon General Sir John Nicholas Reynolds Houghton, G.C.B., C.B.E., by the name, style and title of BARON HOUGHTON OF RICHMOND, of Richmond in the County of North Yorkshire.
