NOTICE OF EXTENSION OF BRIDGWATER ST JOHN’S CONSERVATION AREA
NOTICE is hereby given that on 18th December 2019, Sedgemoor District Council in accordance with Section 70(8) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and as directed by para 76 Advice Note 1 (Second Edition); Finalising, reviewing and publicising the conservation area boundary contained within Historic England 2019 Conservation Area Appraisal, Designation and Management, Bridgwater St Johns Conservation Area has undergone the required process as detailed within the aforementioned Advice Note 1 for enlargement of the designated boundary of the Conservation Area and has subsequently been formally adopted by Sedgemoor District Council on the aforementioned date.
The extension to the designated area is to include the addresses described in the Schedule to this notice below.
The effect of the designation of the conservation area is as follows:
1. Planning permission will now be required from the Local Planning Authority for the demolition of all unlisted buildings (other than excepted buildings) in the conservation area.
2. Planning applications for development which would, in the opinion of the Local Planning Authority, affect the character or appearance of the conservation area, must be given publicity with representations received because of the publicity considered in determining the application.
3. It becomes an offence subject to certain exceptions to cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy any tree in the area except with the consent of the Local Planning Authority.
4. An Article 4(2) direction is included.
