NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 34

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with section 36(1)(a) of the Control of Pollution Act 1984 (As Amended), that applications have been made to SEPA by Scottish Water for consent to discharge the following:

Reference Number WPC/N/72275

Up to a maximum of 29.9 litres per second of treated sewage effluent to Loch Portree at National Grid Reference NG 4941 4304 from Portree Waste Water Treatment Plant, Dunvegan Road, Portree, Isle of Skye. The discharge will additionally contain intermittent flows of storm trade effluent up to a maximum of 3.5 litres per second.

Reference Number WPC/N/72276

Up to a maximum of 29.9 litres per second of treated sewage effluent to Loch Portree at National Grid Reference NG 4847 4310. The discharge will additionally contain intermittent flows of storm trade effluent up to a maximum of 3.5 litres per second and will only arise as a result of pump failure at Bayfield Pumping Station, Portree, Isle of Skye.

An unspecified volume of screened/settled storm sewage effluent to Loch Portree at National Grid Reference NG 4847 4310 arising as a result of exceedence of storm sewage storage capacity and the subsequent operation of a storm overflow at Bayfield Pumping Station, Portree, Isle of Skye.

Up to a maximum of 29.9 litres per second of treated sewage effluent and up to a maximum of 3.5 litres per second of storm trade effluent and an unspecified volume of screened/settled sewage effluent to the River Leasgeary at National Grid Reference NG 4802 4351 arising from pump failure at Bayfield Pumping Station, Portree, Isle of Skye.

Any person who wishes to make representations about these applications should do so in writing to The Registrar, SEPA, Graesser House, Fodderty Way, Dingwall IV15 9XB, not later than 8 March 2005, quoting Reference WPC/N/2275, WPC/N/72276, WPC/N/72277 or WPC/N/7229.
