NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT IN PURSUANCE OF SECTION 34

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 36(1)(a) of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 (As Amended), that the following applications for consent to discharge have been made to SEPA by Scottish Water:

Ref No: WPC/W/72369:

Up to 527 cubic metres per day of treated sewage effluent from a new sewage treatment works at Powfoot, Annan to the Pow Water at National grid Reference NY1495 6577.

Ref No: WPC/W/72368:

Up to 1,080 cubic metres per day of storm sewage from a combined sewer overflow at a new sewage pumping station at Powfoot, Annan, to the Pow Water at National Grid Reference NGR NY 1497 6575.

Up to 1,080 cubic metres per day of sewage from an emergency overflow at a new sewage pumping station at Powfoot, Annan, to the Pow Water at National Grid Reference NGR NY1497 6575. It should be noted that this proposed discharge of sewage is an emergency discharge and will only occur in the event of power failure or breakdown of the sewage pumping station.

Any person who wishes to make representations about any of these applications should do so in writing to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride G74 5PP not later than 26 April 2005, quoting the appropriate reference number.

Copies of the applications may be inspected, free of charge, at the above address and at SEPA’s office at Rivers House, Irongray Road, Dumfries at all reasonable hours.
