LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON
(Prescribed Route) (No. 108) Traffic Order 1998
Area Lorry Ban
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Merton, after consulting
the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, in exercise of power conferred by section
6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, have made the above-mentioned Order on
28th January 1998. The Order will come into operation on 1st February 1998.
The general effects of the Orders will be to introduce a 7.5 tonne lorry ban in
the roads identified on the Schedule to this notice.
Exemptions to the provisions of the Order are given for emergency vehicles and
anything done with the permission or at the discretion of a police constable in uniform.
A copy of the Order, the Council’s statement of reasons and a plan of the area
affected by the Order can be inspected during normal office hours, on Monday to Fridays
until 12th March 1998 in the main reception, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden,
Surrey. The notice of proposals was published in The London Gazette on 30th October 1997.
Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained
in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or of any
Instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may,
within 6 weeks from the date which the Order was made, apply to the High Court for
this purpose.
