NOTICE UNDER SECTION 27 OF THE TRUSTEE ACT 1925

Following the decision to wind up the Union Texas Petroleum Limited Pension & Life Assurance Plan (“the Plan”), the Trustees of the Plan are finalising a list of those individuals who may be entitled to pensions and other benefits under the Rules of the Plan. They have already written to members for whom they have records, but would like to contact any individuals who may be entitled to benefits and of whom they are unaware. If you fall into any of the following categories, you could be entitled to pension and other benefits: former employee of the following companies: Union Texas Petroleum Ltd Allied Chemical (Great Britain) Ltd Allied Chemical (North Sea) Ltd Klippan (UK) Ltd NV Allied Chemical International SA Union Texas Petroleum Europe and Middle East Inc Union Texas Pakistan Inc a current or former member of the Pension Plans mentioned above; a widow/widower of a member of those Plans; a child or dependant of a member of those Plans. If you think you might be entitled to benefits, you should contact Neil Stone at Arco British Limited, London Square, Cross Lanes, Guildford, Surrey GU1 1UE. You will be sent a claim form which you must complete and return by the closing date, 31st March 1999. If you have already received a letter from the Trustees, there is no need for you to contact Neil Stone. Please remember, if you do not notify us of your claim by 31st March 1999, you may lose any rights you may have to claim benefits.
