The Greater Manchester (Light Rapid Transit System) (Moor Road Modification) Order

Notice is hereby given that application is being made by Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (“GMPTE”) to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, c/o TWA Processing Unit, Zone 2/22, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR, for an Order under section 1 of the Transport and Works Act 1992, the purposes of which is to empower GMPTE to construct works in Moor Road, Manchester by way of a modification of the extension to the Metrolink Light Rapid Transit System authorised by the Greater Manchester (Light Rapid Transit System) (Airport Extension) Order 1997.   And notice is further given that:   (a) Waiver directions have been given by the Secretary of State in respect of certain provisions of the Transport and Works (Applications and Objections Procedure) Rules 1992 and are comprised in one of the documents submitted with the Order application;   (b) A copy of the application, and of all plans and other documents submitted with it, may be inspected free of charge from 15th January 1998 until 26th February 1998 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on Mondays, 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesdays to Fridays and, by prior appointment, 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays at GMPTE’s offices at 9 Portland Street, Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester M60 1HX, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays at Manchester City Council, City Planning Department Reception, Level 7, Town Hall Extension, Lloyd Street Entrance, Manchester M60 2JT, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Mondays, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Rackhouse Library, 103 Sale Road, Northern Moor, Manchester M23 0BQ and between the hours of 9.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays at the offices of Dyson Bell Martin, 1 Dean Farrar Street, Westminster, London SW1H 0DY;   (c) Any person who wishes to make an objection to the application or otherwise submit representations about the proposals should write to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, c/o TWA Processing Unit, Zone 2/22, Great Minster House, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR. Such objections or representations must arrive not later than 26th February 1998. An objection will not be valid unless it is (i) received by the due date, (ii) made in writing, (iii) states the grounds of the objection and (iv) gives the objector’s name and address;   (d) All requests for further information or respecting notices or other documents relating to the application should be made to GMPTE, 9 Portland Street, Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester M60 1HX.
