TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State for Transport hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (county of Tyne and Wear) (No. 3) Order 1998” authorising the stopping-up of areas of highway at Wendover Way, Wendover Close and Winslow Close at Witherwack, Sunderland, to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted to Anthony Watson, Chartered Architects, acting on behalf of the Cheviot Housing Association Limited by the Council of the City of Sunderland, on 23rd May 1997, under Ref. 97/0149.
  Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary of State at the offices of the Director Planning, Environment and Transport, Government Office for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD (quoting Ref. GO-NE/97/5038/35/18) and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of the Council of the City of Sunderland, Reception Desk, Administration Department, Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland SR2 7DN.
  Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the above Act, or that any requirement of that Act, or of any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 5th February 1998, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order, or of any provision contained therein.

Schedule

  The planning permission granted is for the demolition of 15 no. blocks of flats in 2 phases and erection of 12 no. 2B 4P houses, together with environmental improvements and change of use from public highway to residential, private garden, public open space and landscaped ares at Witherwack, Sunderland.
