LONDON BOROUGH OF SUTTON
The Sutton (Prescribed Route) (One-way) (No. 2) Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Sutton made the above-mentioned Order on Tuesday, 14th April 1998, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.   The principal objective of the measure is to regulate traffic movements in the service roads adjacent to the shops at Middleton Circle, Carshalton, so as to avoid conflicts created by opposing traffic meeting head-on in the narrow carriageway.   The general effect of this Order will be to:   (a) allow vehicles to travel in the service road fronting No. 394 Green Wrythe Lane to No. 396 Middletobn Road, in a direction from Middleton Road to Green Wrythe Lane only; and   (b) allow vehicles to travel in the service road fronting No. 371 Green Wrythe Lane to No. 352 Middleton Road, in a direction from Green Wrythe Lane to Middleton Road only.   A copy of the Order, which will come into effect on Monday, 20th April 1998, a plan indicating location and extent of restrictions and the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order, can be examined at: Civic Offices, St. Nicholas Way, Sutton, between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, and at Environmental Services, 24 Denmark Road, Carshalton, between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays.   If any person wishes to question the validity of this Order, or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any Instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from that date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
