NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 to the Water Resources Act 1991, that an application has been made to the Environment Agency;

To discharge: 22000 cubic metres per day
Of: trade effluent consisting of treated sewage effluent
To: the River Medway near Teston, Kent
At National Grid Reference:    TQ 7096 5344
From: premises near Aylesford Wastewater Treatment Works, near Maidstone, Kent
The purpose of the proposed discharge is to augment river flows to facilitate additional downstream abstraction for the purposes of public water supply. The applicant has separately made a related abstraction licence application under the above Act. The discharge will consist of effluent from the existing Aylesford Wastewater Treatment Works (WTW) after having received further treatment and transferred by pipeline to the discharge location. Aylesford WTW currently makes discharges of treated sewage effluent to the Medway Estuary. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Water Quality Regulatory Support Team, Environment Agency, Orchard House, Endeavour Park, London Road, Addington, West Malling, Kent, ME19 5SH
