THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TRANSPORT hereby gives notice that he intends to make an Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 122A of, and paragraph 27(1) of schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A46 Trunk Road between Syston in the County of Leicestershire and Newark-on-Trent in the County of Nottinghamshire.

The effect of the Order will be to

• a prohibit waiting at any time (other than in a layby) on the length of the A46 Trunk Road and the connecting roads specified in the schedule to this notice, and
• b prohibit heavy commercial vehicles, over 7.5 tonnes, from waiting in the layby adjacent to
  • i the northbound carriageway of the A46, 1105 metres south of the Lodge Lane overbridge, near Syerston, and
  • ii the southbound carriageway of the A46, 658 metres south of the Lodge Lane overbridge, near Syerston, between the hours of 22.00 and 6.00 on any day.
  ii the southbound carriageway of the A46, 658 metres south of the Lodge Lane overbridge, near Syerston, between the hours of 22.00 and 6.00 on any day.

The Order will apply to the new road layout on the A46, constructed as a result of the A46 Newark to Widmerpool improvement scheme, and will consolidate existing clearway orders on the A46.
