NOTICE OF PROPOSED COAST PROTECTION WORK

North Ayrshire Council hereby gives notice under Section 5(1) of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection work at the south end of the beach at Brodick Bay, Isle of Arran for a distance of some 250m northwards from the putting green between Grid References NS014364 and NS016361. The work will protect the disused landfill site from further erosion and restore the sandy beach.

The works comprise the construction of a light crest defence (revetment) using geotextile sand containers to contain the landfill site covered with sand recovered from further along the beach where it has accreted as a result of the current erosion.

The estimated cost of the works is £150,000.

Further information and details of the proposals are available for viewing during normal opening hours at the Arran Local Office, Lamlash, Isle of Arran. The offices are open Monday to Thursday 9.00am-4.45pm and Friday9.00am-4.30pm.

Any person may serve a written notice of objection to the proposal within 28 days of publication of this notice on the Scottish Government, Flooding Policy Team, Mailpoint 15, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ and to North Ayrshire Council, Head of Infrastructure and Design, Roads, Perceton House, Irvine, KA11 2AL.
