The Newham (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (Amendment No.  ) Order 199  
Designation of Orange Badge Holders’ Parking Places

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Newham propose to make the above-mentioned Order under sections 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985, and the Road Traffic Act 1991.   The general effect of the Order would be to further amend the Newham (Free Parking Places) Disabled Persons) (No. 1) Order 1989, so as to:   (a) designate a parking place outside each of the following locations:       1. No. 57 Bartle Avenue E.6;       2. No. 91 Carlyle Road E.12;       3. Nos. 5 to 11 Melford Road E.6;       4. No. 3 Sherrard Road E.12;       5. No. 131 Wakefield Street E.6;       6. No. 100 Wanlip Road E.13     in which only vehicles authorised by the Order may be left without charge;   (b) specify, in respect of the parking places, that disabled persons’ vehicles displaying in the relevant position a disabled person’s badge (commonly referred to as the “Orange Badge”) issued by any local authority under the provisions of the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulation 1975 or 1982, (amended by the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations 1991 and 1992) may be left therein; and   (c) provide that certain other vehicles may wait in the parking places in certain circumstances, e.g. to load or unload.   A copy of the draft Order, and of the documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order, can be inspected until 6 weeks from the date the Order is made (or until the proposal is withdrawn, as appropriate), during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, at the offices of the Director of Environment, 25 Nelson Street, East Ham, London E6 4EH.   Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Environment Department on 0181-472 1430 ext. 22369.   Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Director of Environment at the address shown above quoting E/ES/NB by 3rd February 1998.
