Notice of application for licence to abstract water

Take notice that Alwyn A. Stafford, trading as A. A. Stafford & Son, of Intake Farm, Gunthorpe, Owston Ferry, Doncaster, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from Black Dyke Drain and Low Hirst Drain between National Grid References SK 7894 9775 and SK 7985 958, and SK 7894 9775 and SK 7880 945 at Gunthorpe, Isle of Axholme, South Yorkshire.   The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 27.27 cubic metres per hour, 205.6 cubic metres per day, 15,420 cubic metres per year between 1st April and 31st October each year.   Water will be used for irrigation of leeks and salad crops.   A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Little Hirst, Gunthorpe, Owston Ferry, Doncaster, between 23rd January and 20th February 1998.   Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Trentside Offices, Scarrington Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 5FA, before the end of the said period.
