The Islington (Prescribed Routes) (No. 129) Traffic Management Order 1998 Relating to Beresford Terrace between Petherton Road and Highbury New Park, London N.5

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Islington proposes to make the above-mentioned Order under section 6 of Part III of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.   The general effect of the Order will be to create a segregated cycle lane, known as the “Beresford Terrace Cycle Lane”, being the area of carriageway which lies within that length of Beresford Terrace in the London Borough of Islington, between Petherton Road and Highbury New Park, London N.5, and which extends for a length of 74 metres along the southern kerb-line of Beresford Terrace, from its junction with Petherton Road, in a north-westerly direction to the junction with Highbury New Park.   This cycle lane will be 1.2 metres wide and will be denoted by having a green coloured surface segregated by a continuous white line at the same level as the pedestrian footpath.   (a) No vehicle, other than pedal cycles, will be allowed to enter, proceed or wait in the Beresford Terrace Cycle Lane.   (b) Within the Beresford Terrace Cycle Lane pedal cycles will be allowed to travel in a north-westerly direction only.   (c) Within that area of carriageway which lies within that length of Beresford Terrace from its junction with Petherton Road and which extend along Beresford Terrace on the southern kerb-line only, for a length of 74 metres, until it meets the junction with Highbury New Park, all vehicles, including pedal cycles, will be allowed to travel in a north-westerly direction only.   (d) These restrictions shall not apply to pedal cycles entering the Beresford Terrace Cycle Lane at its north-westerly extremity.   (e) The above restrictions will apply between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Mondays to Fridays.   A copy of the Order, a plan showing the cycle lane and a copy of the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order can be inspected, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, until the expiration of a period of 21 days from the date on which this notice is published, at the Legal Department, Town Hall, Upper Street, Islington, London N1 2UD (please ask for reference LE/C/HGF).   Copies of the Order may also be obtained from the Legal Department.   Any person desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of his or her objection and the grounds thereof to the Solicitor to the Council, Town Hall, Upper Street, London N.1, quoting reference LE/P/HGF, not later than 21 days from the date of this notice.
