South Wandle Regeneration Strategy Proposed One-way Workings in Bute Road and Euston Road

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon, subject to the approval of the Traffic Director for London propose to make the above-mentioned Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.   2. The general effect of the Order will be to introduce one-way working in:   (a) Bute Road, between its junction with Mitcham Road and a point 20 metres south-west of that junction in a north-easterly direction; and   (b) Euston Road, between its junction with Grafton Road and Bute Road in a north-westerly direction.   3. Nothing in paragraph 2 of this notice shall apply to a pedal cycle proceeding within the limits of a contra-flow cycle lane or a vehicle being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes.   4. A copy of the proposed Order (and of all related Orders) of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order and of a map indicating the lengths of road to which the proposed Order relates, can be inspected for a period of 21 days from the date of this notice during normal office hours, on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.   5. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Traffic Management Section, Public Services and Works Department, London Borough of Croydon, on 0181-686 4433, extension 3881.   6. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Public Services and Works Department, London Borough of Croydon, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey, quoting reference TH/SJC/PR/W/Wandle within the aforesaid 21 days.   7. The Councillors of these wards are Stuart Collins, Rod Matlock and Peter Spalding for the Broad Green Ward and Chris Allen, Marilyn Allen and Charlie Burling for the Waddon Ward.   8. The Order is intended to introduce one-way workings in Bute Road, Euston Road and Duppas Hill Terrace which form part of a package of traffic management and traffic calming measures for the South Wandle area. This should improve road safety and reduce the amount of through traffic using this mainly residential area.
