The A5036 (T) Dunnings Bridge Road (Switch Island) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 1998

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he intends to make an Order under sections 1(1) and 2(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A5036 (T) Dunnings Bridge Road (Switch Island), in the district of Sefton in the county of Merseyside.   The effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the western section of the circulatory carriageway at Switch Island.   Exemptions will be provided for:   (a) a vehicle being used in connection with highways maintenance;   (b) a vehicle being used in the laying, erection, alteration or repair, of a sewer, or of any main pie or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity or any telecommunications apparatus;   (c) a vehicle being used in the service of a local authority or of a water authority in pursuance of its statutory powers or duties (which may only enter the circulatory carriageway at its northern junction with Dunnings Bridge Road);   (d) a vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes;   (e) anything done with the permission, or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, and   (f) a horse or a bicyle.   A copy of the draft Order together with a plan illustrating the proposals and a copy of the statement of reasons may be inspected during normal working hours at the office of Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council, Department of Technical Services, Balliol House, Balliol Road, Bootle, Merseyside; or may be seen at/or obtained by application to the office of the Director, Network and Customer Service Divison of the Highways Agency, Room 705, Sunley Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BE.   Any person wishing to object to the Secretary of State’s proposals to make this Order should send a written statement of their objection to the Director’s address given above.
