The Croydon (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons)(No. 2) Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon, on 4th May 1998, made the Croydon (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (No. 2) Order 1998, under sections 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.   The general effect of the Order would be to:   (a) designate new parking places in Barmouth Road, Shirley (outside No. 54); Benhurst Gardens, Selsdon (outside No. 63); Betchworth Way, New Addington (outside No. 4); Bingham Road, Addiscombe (outside No. 166); Brierley, New Addington (outside No. 63); Bute Road, Croydon (outside No. 5); Granville Close, East Croydon (adjacent to Nos. 1 to 3); Hayes Lane, Kenley (outside No. 141); Henderson Road, Selhurst (outside No. 6); Leander Road, Thornton Heath (outside No. 122); Mersham Road, Thornton Heath (outside Nos. 228-230); Myrtle Road, Shirley (outside No. 46); Salcot Crescent, New Addington (outside Nos. 11c/11f); Sandringham Road, Thornton Heath (outside No. 14);   (b) provide that the parking places would operate At any time”;   (c) specify, in respect of the parking places, that disabled persons’ vehicles displaying in the relevant position a disabled persons’ badge (commonly referred to as the Orange Badge”) issued by any local authority under the provisions of the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations 1975 or 1982, as amended, may be left therein; and   (d) provide that certain vehicles may wait in the parking places in certain circumstances, e.g. to allow persons to board or alight (maximum 2 minutes), to load or unload (maximum 20 minutes), etc.   A copy of the Order which will come into operation on 11th May 1998, and of all related Orders can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, at the Enquiry Counter, One Stop” Facility, Ground Floor, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey.   Copies of the Order may be obtained at a charge, from the Highways and Traffic Section, Public Services and Works Department, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon.   Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provison contained therein on the ground that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
