TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act, which will authorise the stopping-up of an area of highway at Dorsten Square, Bewbush, Crawley, in the county of West Sussex.   If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted by Crawley Borough Council on 15th December 1997 under Ref. CR/97/0628/RG3.   Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours during the 28 days commencing on 20th May 1998, at the offices of Crawley Borough Council, Town Hall, The Boulevard, Crawley, West Sussex RH10 1UZ, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Head of Transport (East), Government Office for the South East (quoting Ref. GOSE/029/001/CRAW/007) at the address below.   During the above-mentioned period of 28 days anyone may object to the making of the Order by writing to the Secretary of State, quoting reference GOSE/029/001/CRAW/007, and addressing their objection to the Head of Transport (East), Government Office for the South East, First Floor, Bridge House, 1 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford GU1 4GA.   In preparation of an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection may be communicated to the applicant and other people who may be affected by it. Schedule

Dorsten Square, Bewbush, Crawley for environmental improvements to include the removal of three raised planters, removal of the steps and replacement with ramps, repaving the main square incorporating some landscaping and new street furniture, the relocation of the Dorsten Public House sitting out area from the east side of the pub to the west side, relocation of disabled parking bays and painting of artwork on the balcony fascia above the shops.
