Stopping-up of Highway Verge at Stable Barn, Chapel Chorlton, Newcastle-under-Lyme

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (County of Staffordshire) (No. 11) Order 199”, authorising the stopping-up of highway verge, at Stable Barn, Chapel Chorlton, Newcastle-under-Lyme.   The Order as made, will authorise the stopping-up only to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the permission given for lawful use of the land as agreed with Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.   Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Government Office for the West Midlands, at the offices of the Director, Planning, Transport and Environment, 77 Paradise Circus, Queensway, Birmingham B1 2DT, (quoting Ref. 5074/35/1/98), and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at Newcastle Borough Council, Civic Offices, Merrial Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire ST5 2AG.   Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 1st September 1998 apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. Schedule

  Land/grass verge adjacent to Stable Barn, Chapel Chorlton. Part of the area will be turned into hardstanding to avoid traffic congestion during church services.
