TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992

The Secretary of State for Transport gives notice, pursuant to section 14(1)(b), (3A) and (3AA) of the Transport and Works Act 1992 (“the Act”) that he has determined under section 13(1) of the Act to make with modifications the Docklands Light Railway (Woolwich Arsenal Extension) Order 2004 (“the Order”).
The Order was applied for by Docklands Light Railway Limited, PO Box 154, Castor Lane, Poplar, London E14 0DX (“DLRL”).
The Order will authorise DLRL to construct and operate an extension to the Docklands Light Railway. The extension would run from King George V Station (at the end of the route currently under construction between Canning Town and North Woolwich, in the London Borough of Newham) via bored tunnels under the River Thames, to a new terminus adjoining the existing Woolwich Arsenal Station in the London Borough of Greenwich.
In making these determinations, the Secretary of State has complied with the requirements of paragraphs (a) to (c) of section 14(3A) of the Act about consideration of the environmental statement and of the representations relating to it. For the purposes of section 14(3AA) he confirms that the main measures to avoid, reduce and, if possible, remedy any major adverse environmental effects are those set out in the conditions that he intends to attach to the deemed planning permission for the scheme and in the Code of Construction Practice.
Copies of the Order (once made) may be obtained from the Stationery Office Limited or through booksellers.
