APPEAL UNDER THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981, SECTION 28F(1)
Appeal under section 28F(1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as amended by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, against the refusal of consent by English Nature on 31 July 2003 and English Nature’s conditioned consent of 9 May 2005, relating to land, notified as an SSSI at Upper Solway Flats and Marshes. Notice is hereby given that an Inspector, appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, will hold a hearing into this appeal against the refusal of consent by English Nature to carry out trials in relation to farming of mussels and oysters on Upper Solway Flats and Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), which forms part of the Solway Firth Special Protection Area (SPA), Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and Ramsar site. The hearing will commence at 10.00 am on Wednesday 21 September 2005, at the Council Chamber, Carlisle City Council, Civic Centre, Carlisle CA3 8QG. Interested persons may attend the hearing.
