TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992

The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs gives notice, pursuant to section 14(1)(b), (3A) and (3AA) of the Transport and Works Act 1992 (“the Act”) that she has determined under section 13(1) of the Act to make with modifications the Leicestershire County Council (Ashby de la Zouch Canal Extension) Order (“the Order”). The Order was applied for by Leicestershire County Council, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RJ. The Order will authorise the construction and operation of a canal forming an extension of the existing Ashby de la Zouch Canal (“the Ashby Canal”). The canal would form a junction with the Ashby Canal at its current terminus at Snarestone and would run to Measham where it would terminate at a new wharf. In reaching her decision, the Secretary of State has complied with the requirements of paragraphs (a) to (c) of section 14(3A) of the Act about consideration of the environmental statement and of representations relating to it. For the purposes of section 14(3AA) of the Act she is satisfied that the scheme will have no major adverse environmental effects. Copies of the Order (once made) may be obtained from The Stationery Office Limited or through booksellers.
