PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990

ALTERATIONS TO BODEDERN CONSERVATION AREA

Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Anglesey County Council (“the Council”) of Council Offices, Llangefni, Anglesey, LL77 7TW, has determined on 11 December 2003, that the undermentioned area of Bodedern is of special architectural or historic interest, the character and appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. An amended map of the Bodedern Conservation Area, designated under the provision of section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, may be inspected at the Planning Service offices, Llangefni during normal office hours, from Monday to Friday. The main effects of the designation of the Conservation Area are as follows: 1. Conservation Area Consent will be required for the demolition of all buildings, and the alteration of parts of buildings, walls and structures (other than excepted buildings) within this area. 2. Notice of all planning applications for development which, in the opinion of the Local Planning Authority, would affect the character and appearance of the Conservation Area must be given publicity that must be taken into account when determining the application. 3. Most trees within the Conservation Area are given special protection. It is an offence to cut down, lop, top, uproot, damage or wilfully destroy a tree, subject to certain exceptions, within the Conservation Area, without giving at least 6 weeks notice of intent to the Local Planning Authority. The amended boundary of the Conservation Area is as follows: The conservation area boundary line alternates in direction, often to property boundaries, to include most of the old settlement at the centre of the village. It extends as far as the cemetery at the rear of the Church of St Edern/Old Police Station and Tyn Llan to the North, the Memorial Hall to the East, the Baptist Chapel on Baptist Street to the South, and rear gardens of the properties on London Road to the West.
