TRANSPORT AND WORKS ACT 1992

THE TRANSPORT AND WORKS (APPLICATIONS AND OBJECTIONS PROCEDURE) (ENGLAND AND WALES) RULES 2006 — RULE 14(1)

PROPOSED LONDON OVERGROUND (BARKING RIVERSIDE EXTENSION) ORDER

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ORDER

Transport for London (TfL) of Windsor House, 42-50 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0TL has applied to the Secretary of State for Transport under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992 for the above-mentioned Order to be made under sections 1 and 5 of that Act.

The proposed Order, if made, authorises Transport for London to construct, operate and maintain an extension to the London Overground Gospel Oak to Barking line from Barking station to a new station at Barking Riverside in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

The proposed development comprises construction of a new section of railway and remodelling of existing tracks which form part of Network Rail’s Essex Thameside (Tilbury Loop) Line. The new section of railway would commence at a junction with the existing Essex Thameside (Tilbury Loop) Line and be built partly at grade and partly on a viaduct, passing below the bridge at Renwick Road before rising onto a new viaduct and turning south to pass over existing Network Rail tracks and Choats Road to access a new elevated terminus station at Barking Riverside.

The proposed Order would authorise the compulsory acquisition and the temporary use of land, the temporary and permanent stopping up of streets, street works and ancillary works and confers other powers in connection with the construction, operation and maintenance of the works. The proposed development is located in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

The application is to be made subject to an environmental impact assessment.

The application contains a statement that a direction for deemed planning permission is being applied for.

Any objections to, or other representations about, the proposals in the application for the proposed Order should be sent to the Secretary of State for Transport, c/o Transport and Works Act Orders Unit, General Counsel’s Office, Department for Transport, Zone 1/18, Great Minster House, 33 Horseferry Road, London SW1P 4DR, (e-mail: transportandworksact@dft.gsi.gov.uk) on or before 13 May 2016.

An objection or representation MUST (i) be received by the Secretary of State on or before 13 May 2016, (ii) be made in writing (whether sent by post or e-mail), (iii) state the grounds of the objection or representation, (iv) indicate who is making the objection or representation, and (v) give an address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent. (If you are sending your objection or other representation by e-mail, please provide a postal address).

The Secretary of State may make complete copies of any objections or other representations public, including any personal information contained in them, and will copy them to TfL as the applicant for the Order.
