NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, being the highway authority for the area within which the above named area of highway is situated, intends to apply to Wigan & Leigh Magistrates’ Court sitting at Darlington Street, Wigan in the County of Greater Manchester on 19th August 2022 at 09.45 a.m. for an Order under section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 authorising the stopping up of an area of highway being in the vicinity of Eliot Drive and Mesnes Avenue, Worsley Mesnes, Wigan on the ground that the said highway is unnecessary. The effect of the Order will be to extinguish all public rights of way over the said land.

A copy of the draft Order and plan may be inspected free of charge at Wigan Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday from 12/07/22 to 18/08/22.

Any person to whom this Notice has been given or who uses the highway specified or who would be aggrieved by the making of the Order may appear before the Magistrates’ Court to raise an objection or make a representation on the application.
