THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

ENVIRONMENT ACT 1995, PART IV, SECTION 83(2) THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL ST JOHN’S ROAD AMENDMENT ORDER 2024 (“ST JOHN’S ROAD AQMA ORDER”)

NOTICE OF ORDER AMENDING AN AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT AREA (AQMA)

Notice is hereby given that the City of Edinburgh Council (referred to below as the “Council”) as planning authority in exercise of their powers conferred upon them by Section 83(2) of the above Act have made The City of Edinburgh Council St John’s Road Amendment Order 2024 (referred to below as the "Order") in respect of an Air Quality Management Area at St John’s Road, Edinburgh. The Order takes effect on 11th March 2024. The AQMA has been amended for the reason that having conducted a review and assessment of air quality in St John’s Road AQMA the council is satisfied that the air quality objectives in respect of the nitrogen dioxide hourly mean objective as specified in the Air Quality (Scotland) Regulations 2000 (as amended by the Air Quality (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002 and 2016) will be met for reasons of previous, current and projected compliance with the relevant air quality objectives.

The Council, in accordance with SEPA Guidance for revoking an Air Quality Management Area, will develop or modify existing local air quality strategy or maintain an air quality action plan for the previously designated area(s) to ensure air quality issues maintain a high profile locally and to respond to any public expectations.

The Order and the Air Quality Annual Progress Report 2021 can both be viewed on the Council's website (https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/pollution/local-air-quality-management). A certified copy of the Order will be deposited at Corstorphine Library, 12 Kirk Loan, Edinburgh, EH12 7HD. An electronic copy of the Order can be provided by email free of charge by sending a request to spatial.policy@edinburgh.gov.uk.

Any other enquiries about the Order should be sent to Placemaking and Mobility, The City of Edinburgh Council, Waverley Court, 4 East Market Street, Edinburgh EH8 8BG or by email to spatial.policy@edinburgh.gov.uk.
