1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Common Council of the City of London on 13th June 2024 made the above Experimental Orders under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The effect of these Orders in Old Jewry would be to:-

(a) introduce a one-way traffic restriction from north to south except pedal cycles; and

(b) suspend the road closure restriction at the junction with Cheapside and Poultry.

(c) introduce a banned left turn restriction except pedal cycles and taxis from Old Jewry into Poultry.

3. Copies of the Orders, which will come into operation on 5th July 2024, the statement of reasons for making the Orders and plans can be inspected during normal office hours on Monday to Fridays inclusive for a period of six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made at the Planning Enquiry Desk, North Wing, Guildhall, London, EC2V 7HH or on the City of London website at www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/services/streets/traffic-schemes-and-proposals.

5. The Order shall provide that, subject to the provisions of section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Director, City Operations, or some person authorised in that behalf by them, if it appears to them, or that person essential:

(a) in the interest of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic;

(b) in the interest of providing suitable and adequate parking facilities on the highway; or

(c) for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs; may modify or suspend the Order or the provisions contained therein.

6. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant section of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.

7. If the provisions of the Orders made under section 9 continue in operation for a period of not less than six months, the Common Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely by means of Orders made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Persons desiring to object to the making of Orders under section 6 of the said Act of 1984 for the purpose of such reproduction and continuation in force may, within six months from the coming into force of the Order, or if the Order is subsequently varied by another order, or modified, from the coming into force of that variation or modification (whichever is the latest), send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Head of Street Space Planning, Policy & Projects, City of London, PO Box 270, Guildhall, London EC2P 2EJ or by email to policy.projects@cityoflondon.gov.uk quoting the reference: Old Jewry.
