THE GLA ROAD AND GLA SIDE ROADS (ISLINGTON) RED ROUTE EVENT DAY ORDER 2015 A1 HOLLOWAY ROAD VARIATION ORDER 2024

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 28th June 2024 it made the above named Orders, under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into force on 6th July 2024.

2. The general nature and effect of the Orders will be to:

(1) prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction other than left from Liverpool Road into the A1 Holloway Road;

(2) prohibit all vehicles except pedal cycles from turning left from Palmer Place into the A1 Holloway Road;

(3) prohibit all vehicles except pedal cycles from turning left from the A1 Holloway Road into Palmer Place;

(4) permit all vehicles to turn right from Palmer Place into the A1 Holloway Road;

(5) redefine the double red lines (No Stopping at Any Time) restriction outside Nos. 295 to 299 Holloway Road to reflect its current location;

(6) remove the loading, unloading and disabled persons’ vehicles bay outside Nos. 146 to 162 Holloway Road, replacing it with double red line restrictions (No Stopping at Any Time);

(7) remove the loading, unloading and disabled persons’ vehicles bay outside Nos. 224 to 260 Holloway Road, replacing it with double red line restrictions (No Stopping at Any Time);

(8) introduce a 12 metre No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm or event days 7am to 8.30pm except 10am to 4pm Loading 20 minutes and disabled persons’ vehicles 3 hours bay 15.5 metres north-west of the common boundary of 164 and 166 to 220 Holloway Road (London Metropolitan University);

(9) formalise the 43 metre No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm except 10am to 4pm Loading 20 minutes and disabled persons’ vehicles 3 hours bay outside the London Metropolitan University opposite Nos. 241 to 261 Holloway Road. The adjacent single red line restrictions (No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm) will be replaced with double red line restrictions (No Stopping at Any Time);

(10) replace the single red line restrictions (No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm) at the north-east side of the A1 Holloway Road between No. 88 to 90 Holloway Road and its junction with Hornsey Road with double red line restrictions (No Stopping at Any Time);

(11) replace the single red line restrictions (No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm) at the south-west side of the A1 Holloway Road between No. 169 Holloway Road and its junction with Hornsey Street with double red line restrictions (No Stopping at Any Time);

(12) replace the single red line restrictions (No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm) on Ronalds Road, George’s Road and Eden Grove adjacent to their junctions with the A1 Holloway Road with double red line restrictions (No Stopping at Any Time);

(13) replace the zig-zag and single red line (No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm) restrictions at the south-western side of Holloway Road between No. 235 Holloway and its junction with Liverpool Road with double red line restrictions (No Stopping at Any Time);

(14) redefine the loading, unloading and disabled persons’ vehicles bays outside Nos. 74 to 90 Holloway Road, Nos. 83 to113 Holloway Road, Nos.100-102a Holloway Road, Nos. 104 to 116 Holloway Road, 115 to 123 Holloway Road,,149 to 157 Holloway Road to reflect their current positions;

(15) extend the loading and unloading only bay outside Nos 54 to 58 Holloway Road by 4 metres at its southern end.

(16) extend the loading and unloading and disabled persons’ vehicles bay outside Nos. 115 to 123 Holloway Road by 2 metres at its northern end;

(17) redefine the loading and unloading only bay outside Nos. 37 to 45 (Highbury Corner Magistrates Court), Holloway Road to reflect its current position;

(18) relocate the disabled persons’ vehicles only bay outside Nos. 157 to 161 Holloway Road and the loading, unloading and disabled persons’ vehicles bay outside Nos. 151 to 157 Holloway Road by 1.5 metres north-eastwards;

(19) shorten the loading, unloading and disabled persons’ vehicles bay outside Nos. 139 to 145 Holloway Road by 1.5 metres at its southern end. The disabled person’s vehicles only bay outside Nos 147 to 149 Holloway Road will be extended by 1.5 meters at its northern end;

(20) shorten the loading, unloading and disabled persons’ vehicles bay outside Nos. 163 to 173 Holloway Road by 15 metres at its northern end;

(21) shorten the north-westbound bus lane on the A1 Holloway Road between its junction with Hornsey Street and Chelmsford House, Holloway Road by 9 metres at its southern end:

(22) shorten the north-westbound bus lane on the A1 Holloway Road between No. 193 Holloway Road and its junction with Eden Grove by 123 metres at its southern end and 7 metres at its northern end;

(23) combine the north-westbound bus lanes on Holloway Road and Highbury Corner between Highbury and Islington Station and No. 171 Holloway Road making one Monday to Sunday at any time bus lane;

(24) shorten the south-eastbound bus lane on Holloway Road between No.314 Holloway Road and its junction with Hornsey Road by 6.5 metres at its southern end;

(25) remove a 258 metres section of the south-eastbound bus lane on Holloway Road between its junctions with Slaney Place and Highbury Corner between The London Metropolitan University and No. 88 to 90 Holloway Road creating two Monday to Sunday at any time bus lanes;

(26) vary the event day Order (No Stopping 7 am to 8.30 pm on event days) to reflect the parking changes contained in the Order. (27) formalise the existing double red lines (No Stopping at Any time) on Holloway Road outside Highbury Corner Magistrates Court within the bus stop A markings;

(28) Formalise the existing double red lines (No Stopping at Any time) outside Nos 31 Highbury Corner to 45 Holloway Road, between Upper Street (pedestrianised section) and Nos. 17 to 19 Highbury Corner and between Nos. 2 to 4 and 30 to 32 Highbury Corner;

(29) Formalise the times of operation of the No Stopping Monday to Saturday 7am to 7pm except 10am to 4pm loading 20 mins and disabled persons’ vehicles 3 hours bay on the north-westbound carriageway of Holloway Road under the railway bridge adjacent to Holloway Road underground station.

3. The roads which would be affected by the Orders are the A1 Holloway Road, the A1 Highbury Corner, Palmer Place, Liverpool Road, Ronalds Road, George’s Road and Eden Grove.

4. 5. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
