PROPOSED PROVISION OF A PARALLEL ZEBRA CROSSING

THE ISLINGTON (CHARGED-FOR PARKING PLACES) (AMENDMENT NO. 23) ORDER 2024

THE ISLINGTON (FREE PARKING PLACES, LOADING PLACES AND WAITING, LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO. 23) ORDER 2024

1) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington will:

a) introduce a parallel zebra crossing with provision for cyclists and pedestrians to cross on North Road by its junction with York Way. The centre line of the proposed pedestrian crossing will be at a point 11.5 metres north-east of North Road’s junction with York Way. The centre line of the proposed cyclists crossing will be at a point 8 metres north-east of the same junction.

b) amend the existing crossing on the east side of York Way at its junction with Camden Park Road by adding a crossing for cyclists. The centre line of this added crossing will be at a point 27.3 metres south-east of a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 107 and 107a York Way.

c) amend the existing crossing on York Way immediately north of its junction with Market Road by adding a crossing for cyclists. The centre line of this added crossing will be at a point 1.3 metres north-west of a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 83 and 85 York Way.

d) amend the existing crossing on Market Road immediately east of its junction with York Way by adding a crossing for cyclists. The centre line of this added crossing will be at a point 8.4 metres north-east of the junction with York Way.

2) NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington, on 29 August 2024, has made the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, and of all other powers thereunto enabling.

3) The general effect of the Orders, which will come into effect on 30 August 2024, is to:

a) adjust the existing ‘no loading at any time’ and ‘no loading at any time’ restrictions on York Way between Brewery Road and Hungerford Road, and at intermittent junctions, to align with the new kerb layout;

b) adjust the existing shared-use bay on York Way between Hungerford Road and North Road to align with the new kerb layout, with a net loss of two parking spaces;

c) introduce new ‘no waiting or loading at any time’ restrictions on York Way between its junctions with Hungerford Road and Brewery Road, except for where there are parking bays, ‘no stopping at any time’ restrictions, and a 14-meter gap to assist with loading/unloading for Attic Self Storage (Nos. 270-276 York Way); and

d) introduce new ‘no loading at any time’ restrictions on the north-eastern corner of the junction of York Way and Brewery Road.

4) A copy of the made Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection. 5) Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Orders, or of any provisions contained therein on the grounds that it or they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, may make application for the purpose to the High Court within six weeks from the date on which the Orders are made.
