PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF AN APPLICATION MADE UNDER REGULATION 10 OF THE POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL (NORTHERN IRELAND) REGULATIONS 2003

INTEGRATED POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Notice is hereby given that Lafarge Cement (Ireland) Ltd has applied to the Chief Inspector to vary their Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permit to operate an installation involving the manufacture of cement. The installation is located at 29 Sandholes Road, Cookstown BT80 9AP. The application for variation refers to the company wishing to carryout trials using meat and bone meal (MBM) as a partial replacement for the kiln fossil fuel.

The application contains all particulars as required by the Regulations including a description of foreseeable significant effects of emissions from the installation on the environment.

A copy of the application is available for public inspection free of charge between the hours of 09.30-12.00 and 14.00-15.30 at Environment & Heritage Service, Calvert House, 23 Castle Street, Belfast BT1 1FY and at Cookstown District Council, Town Hall, Burn Road, Cookstown BT80 8DT

In addition, members of the public who wish to obtain a copy of the relevant information contained in the register can do so upon the payment of a reasonable charge to cover the cost of photocopying.

Written representations about the application may be sent to the Chief Inspector of the Industrial Pollution & Radiochemical Inspectorate, Environment and Heritage Service, (address as above) within 42 days from 29th September 2006. All representations will be placed on the public register unless a representation contains a written request to the contrary. If there is such a request, the register will only include a statement that there has been such a request.
