NOTE: [This note is not part of the Scheme]

The amendment to the Scheme that follows this Note is made under Section 89 of the Postal Services Act 2000 and amends the Successor Postal Services Company Overseas Letter Post Scheme 2001. This amendment to the Scheme, which comes into force on 6 April 2009, provides notification of changes to the prices for several services set out in the Schedules and minor other amendments.

Royal Mail Group Ltd(a) by virtue of the powers conferred upon it by section 89 of the POSTAL SERVICES ACT 2000(b) and of all other powers enabling it in this behalf, hereby makes the following Scheme:

Commencement, citation and interpretation

1.	This amendment to the Scheme shall come into operation on 6 April and may be cited as the Royal Mail Group Ltd Overseas Letter Post Amendment (No.16) Scheme 2009.
2.	This amendment to the Scheme shall be read as one with the Successor Postal Services Company Overseas Letter Post Scheme 2001(c) (referred to as “the Scheme”) as amended by: the Consignia plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 1) 2001(d), the Consignia plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 2) 2001(e), the Consignia plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 3)(f), the Consignia plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 4) 2002(g), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 5) 2002(h), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 6) 2003(i), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 7) 2003(j), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 8) 2003(k), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 9) 2004(l), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 10)(m), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 11)(n), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 12)(o), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 13)(p), the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 14)(q) and the Royal Mail Group plc Overseas Letter Post Scheme Amendment (No. 15)(r).
3.	A reference in this Scheme to the Successor Postal Services Company shall be read as a reference to Royal Mail Group Ltd.

Paragraph 5. LETTERS AND POSTCARDS OTHER THAN AIRMAIL PRINTED PAPERS AND SMALL PACKETS

The word Airmail shall be deleted from the title of paragraph 5.

Sub Paragraphs (1) and (2) shall be deleted and replaced with the following:

(1) Postage at the rates specified in Part 1 of Schedule 1 shall be charged and paid on Airmail Letters and Postcards for transmission to all European Destinations.

(2) Postage at the rates specified in Part 2 of Schedule 1 shall be charged and paid on Airmail Letters and Postcards for transmission to all other worldwide destinations.

Paragraph 9. AEROGRAMMES

Indents (a) and (b) shall be deleted and replaced with the following :

(a) on every Airletter sold singly postage of 52p, on every pack of 6 Airletters postage of £2.88, on every pictorial Airletter sold singly postage of 66p and on every pack of 6 pictorial Airletters postage of £3.66;

(b) on every Forces Airletter, postage of 39p.

Paragraph 10. PRINTED PAPERS AND SMALL PACKETS

Sub paragraph (1) shall be deleted and replaced with the following:

(1) Postage at the rates specified in Part 1 of Schedule 2 shall be charged and paid on Airmail Printed Papers and Airmail Small Packets.

Sub paragraph (2) shall be deleted and replaced with the following:

(2) Postage at the rates specified in Part 2 of Schedule 2 shall be charged and paid on Surface Mail Printed Papers and Surface Mail Small Packets.

Sub paragraph (3) shall be deleted, and sub paragraphs (4) and (5) shall be renumbered accordingly.

Paragraph 37. COMPENSATION FOR INCOMING INSURED LETTERS

In sub paragraph (3) the reference to £2,200 shall be deleted and replaced with a reference to £2,800.

Paragraph 37A. COMPENSATION FOR AIRSURE PACKETS, AIRSURE PACKS, INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR PACKETS AND INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR PACKS

The maximum compensation limit at sub paragraph (1b) shall be deleted and replaced with £39.00.

Paragraph 40. INTERNATIONAL REPLY COUPONS

The reference to 95p shall be deleted and replaced by a reference to £1.10
