NOTICE UNDER PARAGRAPH 8 OF SCHEDULE 16 TO THE ACT

Notice is hereby given that Scarborough Building Society, Register No. 500B, whose principal office is at Prospect House, Lake View, Eastfield, Scarborough YO11 3WZ desires to transfer its engagements to Skipton Building Society, Register No. 518B, and that each society has applied to the Financial Services Authority (FSA), to confirm the transfer.

Notice is hereby given that Skipton Building Society, Register No. 518B, whose principal office is at The Bailey, Skipton BD23 1DN, desires to accept a transfer of the engagements of Scarborough Building Society, Register No. 500B, and that each society has applied to the FSA to confirm the transfer.

Any interested party may make written representations to the FSA and/or give notice of intention to make oral representations to the FSA with respect to the application. Written representations or notices of a person’s intention to make oral representations at a hearing should be received by the Financial Services Authority, 11th Floor, RFD, Banking & Mortgages Department, 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E14 5HS, marked “Scarborough/Skipton merger” or by e-mail to eric.engstrom@fsa.gov.uk on or before 28 January 2009. If notice is given of oral representations these will be heard by the FSA on 11 February 2009, at a time and place to be determined by the FSA.
