The Stopping-up of Highways (Wyndham Crescent, Bridgend) Order 1998

The Secretary of State for Wales hereby gives notice that he has made an Order, under section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, to authorise the stopping-up of the sections of highway described in the Schedule to this notice. The stopping-up is authorised only in order to enable development consisting of the construction of a petrol service station to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted by Ogwr Borough Council on 14th February 1995, under reference P/95/24/FUL. The Order shall cease to have effect upon the cessation of the planning permission.   Copies of the Order and the deposited plan may be inspected, free of charge, during normal office hours at the offices of Bridgend County Borough Council, Civic Offices, Angel Street, Bridgend, or may be obtained, free of charge, from the Welsh Office Highways Directorate, RA3, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF1 3NQ (quoting reference ZC 510-5-53-1).   If any person desires to question the validity of the Order, or of any of the provisions contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, or that their interests have been substantially prejudiced by a failure to comply with any of the requirements of the Act, he may, within 6 weeks of 22nd January 1998, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. Description of the sections of highway to be stopped up under this Order

The sections of highway to be stopped up are situated at Wyndham Crescent in the County Borough of Bridgend. They are shown by cross hatching on the deposited plan and comprise:   (i) a strip of footway at the junction of Wyndham Crescent and Cowbridge Road which extends from a point 30 metres east of the boundary wall of Bridgend College in a general southerly direction for a distance of 11 metres and has a total area of 17 square metres; and   (ii) an irregular shaped area of carriageway, adjoining the southern part of the strip of footway to be stopped up for a distance of 4 metres, which has a maximum width of 2 metres and a total area of 5 square metres.
