The City of Westminster (Free Parking Place) (Police Vehicles) (No. 1) Order 1998
The City of Westminster (Parking Places) (No. 4) Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Westminster City Council on 21st January 1998, made the above-mentioned Order under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.   The general effect of the Police Vehicles Parking Place Order will be to:   (a) provide a parking bay for police vehicles in William IV Street;   (b) provide that certain vehicles may wait in the parking place free of charge in certain circumstances, e.g. to allow person to board or alight (maximum 20 minutes), to load or unload (maximum 20 minutes) and vehicles left by specified disabled persons (no time limit);   (c) provide that vehicles used for police purposes may be left in the parking place at any time, without charge or time limit.   The general effect of the Parking Places Order will be to shorten and divide into two a 2-hour metered parking place in William IV Street.   In respect of the metered parking places, the classes of vehicle for which they will be available, the hours during which they will operate, the parking penalty charges, and all the times during which vehicles may be left in the parking places will remain unchanged.   The Parking Places Orders will come into force for the purposes of the placing of traffic signs, etc. on 24th January 1998, and into force for all other purposes on 26th January 1998.   The Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday to Fridays inclusive at Hyder Consulting Ltd., Third Floor, 29 Bressenden Place, London SW1E 5DZ, until 4th March 1998.   Any person desiring to question the validity of either of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to either of the Orders may make application for the purpose to the High Court by 4th March 1998.
