LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET
The Barnet (Prescribed Route) (No. 2) Experimental Traffic Order 1998
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet, on 28th January 1998, made the above-mentioned Order under section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all other enabling powers. The general effect of the Order will be to close Gordon Road to through traffic, except for cyclists, at its junction with Dollis Road, N.3. The Order provides that subject to the provisions of section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a), the Chief Executive for the time being of the London Borough of Barnet, or some person authorised in that behalf by him, may, if it appears to him essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by this Order runs, modify or suspend the operation of this Order, or any provision thereof. A copy of the proposed Order, which will come into operation on Monday, 9th February 1998, a plan of the relevant area and the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order can be inspected between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive within the period 6 months from 21st January 1998, at: (a) Traffic Section, Room 1006, Barnet House, 1255 High Road, Whetstone, London N20 0EJ. (b) The Town Hall, The Burroughs, Hendon, London NW4 4BG. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the London Borough of Barnet (Traffic Section), telephone number 0181 359 4330. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order, or any of their provisions contained therein on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof, or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose of the High Court. If the provisions of the Order continue in operation for a period of not less than 6 months, the Council will consider in due course whether or not the provisions of the Order should be reproduced or continued in force indefinitely by means of Order under section 6 of the said Act of 1984. Anyone who wishes to object to the making of such Order for the purpose of such reproduction and continuation in force may, within the period of 6 months referred to above, send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Director of Environmental Services (Traffic Section), London Borough of Barnet, Barnet House, 1255 High Road, London N20 0EJ.
