Stopping-up of Highways

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act to authorise the stopping-up of the areas and parts of highways consisting of lengths of Old Sunway, Broad Street, St. Dominic’s Square, Baxters Plain, New Conduit Street, Sedgeford Lane, Vancouver Court and highway between Norfolk Street and Broad Street, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, to enable demolition of existing premises, refurbishment of those retained and construction of new premises for A1, A2 and A3 use together with servicing and parking.
  If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Threadneedle Property Fund Managers Ltd., by King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council on 7th August 1997, under Ref. 2/97/0552/F.
  The proposed Order will require the provision of new highway maintainable at the public expense for which Norfolk County Council will be the local highway authority.
  Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours during 28 days commencing on 13th February 1998, at the offices of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, Kings Court, Chapel Street, King’s Lynn PE30 1EX, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Government Office for Eastern Region (Planning and Transport) (quoting Ref. GT/V2635/35/1/11), at the address stated below.
  Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order within the period of 28 days commencing on 13th February 1998, by notice to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, quoting the above reference, at the Government Office for Eastern Region (Planning and Transport), Heron House, 49-53 Golding Road, Bedford MK40 3LL.
  In preparing an objection it should be borne in mine that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.
