The Lewisham Local Road (A21) Red Route (Side Roads) (No. 1) Experimental Traffic Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham made the two above-named experimental Traffic Orders in accordance with the provisions of sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), on 13th February 1998. The Orders will come into force on 9th March 1998, and can remain in force for up to 18 months.
  The general nature and effect of the two Orders is to introduce new Red Route controls on part of the A21 Priority Route and lengths of its side roads in the London Borough of Lewisham between Sangley Road, Catford, and the boundary with the London Borough of Bromley including:

  (a) single red lines prohibiting stopping by any vehicle between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays inclusive;
  (b) double red lines prohibiting stopping at any time by any vehicle in certain lengths of road;
  (c) areas marked on the carriageway in “boxes” where parking and where loading/unloading activities can take place at a various times and for various periods.

  In due course the Council will be considering whether or not the provisions of the Orders should be continued in force indefinitely. Within the period of 6 months from the coming into force of the Orders, or if either Order is subsequently varied by another Order or modified, from the coming into force of that variation or modification (whichever is the latest), any person may object to the making of an Order to continue those provisions in force indefinitely. Any such objection must be made in writing, and must give the grounds on which it is made, and sent to London Borough of Lewisham, Lewisham Design Services, for the attention of P. Sear, Laurence House, 2nd Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU. Any objection may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
  While the Orders are in force the Council’s Head of Highways and Transportation, or some person authorised by him, may modify or suspend either Order or any provision therein if it appears essential to do so for certain purposes.
  During the period of operation of the Orders a copy of the Orders, of Lewisham Council’s statement of reasons for the measures and for proceeding by way of experiment, of plans indicating the location and effect of the Orders, and copies of any Order revoked, suspended, varied or amended by the Orders can be inspected during normal office hours at the London Borough of Lewisham One-Stop-Shop, Laurence House, Ground Floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU.
  Any person wishing to question the validity of either Order or of any of their provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any relevant requirement of that Act or of any Instrument or regulation made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
