Notice of application for consent in pursuance of section 1

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Schedule 10, Section 1 of the Environment Act 1995 that applications have been made to the Environment Agency by North West Water Limited to discharge storm sewage to the River Lune Estuary, via the culverted Mill Race watercourse, from five combined sewer overflows at the following locations in Lancaster City Centre:   Wood Street, at National Grid Reference SD 4768 6187, Reference No. C/6/A/98.   Darnside Street, at National Grid Reference SD 4756 6202, Reference No. C/7/A/98.   Rosemary Lane, at National Grid Reference SD 4777 6187, Reference No. C/8/A/98.   Cable Street, at National Grid Reference SD 4761 6194, Reference No. C/9/A/98.   Bulk Road, at National Grid Reference SD 4799 6209, Reference No. C/10/A/98.   These applications are in connection with a proposed improvement scheme which, in its first phase, will lead to a major reduction in the volumes of storm sewage spilled to the river and which, in its second phase, through the construction of a screening plant, will provide fine screening for all flows entering the River Lune Estuary.   Any person wishing to make representations about the applications should do so in writing to L.
