Notice of application to vary a licence to abstract water
Take notice that Mrs. M. Shield, trading as R. W. Shield of Grange House, Strawgate
Lane, Stapleton, Darlington, County Durham DL2 2QW, is applying to the Environment
Agency to vary licence serial number 1/25/2/121 which authorises the abstraction of
water from the River Tees and Clow Beck at National Grid References NZ 271 114 and
NZ 270 103 respectively, at Stapleton Grange, Strawgate Lane, Stapleton, in the parish
of Stapleton, Richmondshire District of North Yorkshire. The variation being applied
for is (1) to increase the quantities authorised to be abstracted for spray irrigation
between the months of April to September to 9,250 cubic metres per year, 617 cubic
metres per day, 37 cubic metres per hour; (2) to amend the points of abstraction on
the River Tees to between (a) NZ 2598 1351 and NZ 2721 1316; (b) NZ 2652 1217 and
NZ 2764 1075 and on Clow Beck to between NZ 2639 1055 and NZ 2750 1015; (b) to include
land at Baydale Farm, Coniscliffe Road, Darlington, and at Teeside Farm, Stapleton,
as the land on which the water authorised to be abstracted may be used.
A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with
it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Grange House, Strawgate
Lane, Stapleton, between 27th March 1998 and 25th April 1998.
Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so
in writing to the Environment Agency, Licensing Section, Dales Area, Coverdale House,
Aviator Court, Clifton Moor, York YO30 4GZ before the end of the said period, quoting
the name of the applicant.
