The London Borough of Merton (Waiting and Loading Restrictions) (Amendment No. ) Order 1998 The London Borough of Merton (Prescribed Route) (No. ) Order 1998 Queen Mary Avenue

Notice is hereby given that the London Borough of Merton, after consulting the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, propose to make the above-mentioned Orders under sections 6 and 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.   The general effect of the Orders will be to:   (a) introduce parking restrictions so that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to wait in that length of Queen Mary Avenue from its junction with Grand Drive to a point opposite the rear boundary wall of No. 66 Queen Mary Avenue, between 8 a.m. and 6.30 p.m., Monday to Saturday;   (b) amend the existing 7.5 tonnes vehicle area ban to now include all those streets and lengths of street which lie within the area partly bounded by, but not including, Bushey Road (between Grand Drive and Martin Way), Martin Way, Links Avenue, Hillcross Avenue, Grand Drive (between Hillcross Avenue and Queen Mary Avenue), Queen Mary Avenue (between Grand Drive and a point opposite the rear boundary wall of No. 66 Queen Mary Avenue), and Grand Drive (between Queen Mary Avenue and Bushey Road). This ban will not apply to vehicles delivering or collecting goods, or to buses picking up or dropping off passengers.   Exemptions are provided to waiting restrictions in the Order to permit vehicles to wait:   (a) to enable passengers to board or alight and to load or unload their personal luggage;   (b) for up to 20 minutes for the purpose of delivering and collecting goods or loading/unloading the vehicle at premises adjacent to the street;   (c) if they are being used to maintain the road or the services therein or by local authorities or the Post Office in pursuance to statutory powers and duties.   A copy of the draft Orders, plans identifying the area affected by the Orders and the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Orders can be inspected during the Council’s normal office hours, Mondays to Fridays, until 24th April 1998, at the main reception, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey.   The Council welcomes the views of both those for and against the proposal and asks that they respond in writing to the Head of Legal Services at the Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey SM4 5DX, quoting Ref.
