Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990
Designation of Conservation Areas; Exbury and Hatchet Green, New Forest District, Hampshire
Notice is hereby given that pursuant to the provisions of the above Act (sections
69 and 70), New Forest District Council hereby give formal notice of the designation
of conservation areas at Exbury in Exbury and Lepe Parish, and at Hatchet Green in
Hale Parish. The designations have taken place following public consultation.
Exbury Conservation Area
The Conservation Area is designated to include the land described below:
All the buildings on the north and south sides of the main village street and their
grounds, the Rectory, the former School, St. Katharines Church, the elderly persons’
bungalows, Marise Cottage, the Water Tower and Estate Offices and adjoining copses
and the lodges to Exbury House.
Hatchet Green Conservation Area
The Conservation Area is designated to include the land described below:
All the buildings and their grounds and all the fields bounding Hatchet Green,
Hatchet Gate Farm, Hatchet End, October and Drove Cottages, and Hatchet Lodge and
the surrounding woodland to the south.
In each case, the Local Authority believes the designated area to be “an area of
special architectural or historic interest, the character or appearance of which it
is desirable to preserve or enhance.”
Plans showing the precise extent of the Exbury and Hatchet Green Conservation Areas
are available for public inspection between 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. at Environment Services,
New Forest District Council, Appletree Court, Lyndhurst.
Copies will also be held by the Clerks to Exbury and Lepe and Hale Parish Councils
respectively.
