The Greenwich (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (Amendment No. 19) Order 1998

Notice is hereby given that Greenwich Council, hereinafter called the Council, on 4th June 1998, made the above-mentioned Order under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.   2. The general effect of the Order will be to further amend the Greenwich (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) Order 1994 so as to:   (a) designate disabled persons parking places, shown in the Schedule to this notice, in which vehicles authorised by the Order may be left for any period during the permitted hours without charge;   (b) provide that each parking place will operate at any time (Christmas Day, Good Friday and Bank Holidays excepted);   (c) specify, in respect of each parking place, that disabled persons’ vehicles displaying in the relevant position a disabled person’s badge (commonly referred to as “the Orange Badge”) issued by any local authority under the provisions of the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations 1982 may be left therein; and   (d) provide that certain vehicles may wait in each parking place in certain circumstances, e.g., to allow persons to board or alight (maximum 2 minutes), to load or unload (maximum 20 minutes), etc.   3. The prohibition referred to in paragraph 2 will not apply in relation to vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in certain circumstances.   4. The above-mentioned prohibition will not apply to anything done:       (i) with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a parking attendant;       (ii) in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the highway by or on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.   5. A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on 22nd June 1998, together with plans showing the locations and effects of the Order, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, at Development Services, Greenwich Council, Peggy Middleton House, 50 Woolwich New Road, Woolwich SE18 6HQ, for 6 weeks following the date the Order was made and copies of the Order may be obtained from the same address.   6. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks of the making of the Order, make application for the purpose to the High Court.    Burrage Road, the west side, from a point opposite the southern flank wall of No. 182 Burrage Road extending northward for a distance of 6 metres.    Eynsham Drive, the north-west side, from a point 4 metres north-east of the south-western flank wall of No. 118 Eynsham Drive extending north-eastward for a distance of 6 metres.    Griffin Road, the north-west side, from a point 0.50 metres south-west of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 30 and 32 Griffin Road extending north-eastward for a distance of 6 metres.    Holburne Road, the south-west side, from a point 2 metres south-east of a point opposite the north-western flank wall of No. 150 Holburne Road extending south-eastward of for a distance of 6 metres.    Old Dover Road, the south-west side, from a point 1.65 metres south-east of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 16 and 18 Old Dover Road extending south-eastward for a distance of 6 metres.    Pound Park Road, the south-west side, from a point 0.50 metres north-west of a point opposite the south-eastern flank wall of No. 32 Pound Park Road extending north-westward for a distance of 6 metres.    Rochdale Road, the west side, from a point 0.70 metres south of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 26 and 28 Rochdale Road extending northward for a distance of 6 metres.    Sherington Road, the west side, from a point 0.30 metres north of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 35 and 37 Sherington Road extending southward for a distance of 6 metres.    Troughton Road, the south-east side, from a point 0.65 metres south-west of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 60 and 62 Troughton Road extending north-eastward for a distance of 6 metres.    Waverley Crescent, the south-east side, from a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 24 and 26 Waverley Crescent extending north-eastward for a distance of 6 metres.    Waverley Road, the east side, from a point 0.50 metres south of a point opposite the party wall of Nos. 103 and 105 Waverley Road extending northward for a distance of 6 metres.    Wynford Way, the south-west side, from a point 8 metres south-east of a point opposite the south-eastern flank wall of No. 45 Littlemead extending south-eastward for a distance of 6.00 metres. 4th June 1998.
