Golders Green Town Centre Conservation Area
Notice is hereby given that on 4th March 1998, the London Borough of Barnet “the Local Planning Authority”, being the Local Planning Authority for the area and pursuant to their powers under section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, designated the areas referred to in the Schedule to this notice as Conservation Areas. A Conservation Area is an area of special architectural or historic interest, to the character or appearance of which is desirable to preserve or enhance. The effects of designating an area a conservation area are: (a) The demolition of buildings (with some exceptions) is brought within conservation area control and may only occur with the consent of the Local Planning Authority; (b) It becomes an offence to cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy any tree in the area except with the consent of the Local Planning Authority; (c) The Local Planning Authority has a duty to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of the area; (d) Planning applications for development which would, in the opinion of the Local Planning Authority, affect the character or appearance of the conservation area must be given publicity and representations received in consequence taken into account in determining the application; (e) Certain permitted development rights are subject to further restrictions. A plan of each Conservation Area can be inspected at the Enquiry Office of the Director of Environmental Services at Barnet House, 1255 High Road, Whetstone, London N20 0EJ, between 9.15 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays. Railway Terraces, Cricklewood Conservation Area
The Conservation Area boundary runs along the east side of Cricklewood Broadway, from the southern edge of the railway bridge to the southern end of Kara Way. It runs along the southern side of Kara Way for the length of that road. The boundary then turns north along the eastern side of Campion Terrace, along the eastern edge of the allotments and then westwards along the southern side of the railway line until it once again meets Cricklewood Broadway.
Golders Green Town Centre, Conservation Area
The Conservation Area boundary encompasses the main crossroads at Golders Green and west along Golders Green Road as far as the library, including Golders Way and Accommodation Road; north up Finchley Road to include the railway bridge arches (but excluding Golders Green Crescent), station works and sidings as far as the tunnel entrance; east along North End Road to include the Hippodrome and the south side, to include West Heath Court, but excluding the domestic properties on the north side and south along Finchley Road as far as the junction with St. Alban’s Lane and Rodborough Road. 3rd June 1998.
