SALFORD CITY COUNCIL

The City of Salford (Leigh Road, Worsley) (Revocation of 40 m.p.h. Speed Limit and introduction of new 40 m.p.h. Speed Limit) Order 1998. Notice is hereby given that on 28th May 1998 the Council of the City of Salford made the above-mentioned Order under sections 1, 2, 4 and 82 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.   The effect of the Order is as described in the notice of proposal to make the Order which appeared in The London Gazette (issue No. 54567), dated 31st October 1996, under reference number 508.   The Order, which will come into effect on 5th June 1998 makes it unlawful for any person to drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 m.p.h. on the length of Leigh Road (A572) from its junction with Walkden Road (A575) in a westerly direction to point 45 metres east of the easterly kerb-line of Falconwood Chase.   The Urban District of Worsley (40 m.p.h. Speed Limited) (No. 1) Order 1971 will be hereby revoked.   A copy of the Order and a map showing the area affected are available for inspection at the Common Law Section, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton M27 5DA, between 8.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays inclusive (Ref. H/JN/RTO).   If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any of the provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or any Instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks from 28th May 1998, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
