Hitchin Conservation Area: Revised Boundary
Notice is hereby given that Hitchin Conservation Area, within the District of North Hertfordshire, has been reviewed by the District Council, as the local planning authority. As a result of boundary changes, further areas have been added to, and other areas have been removed from, the former Conservation Area. The changes are in accordance with section 69 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, and are to ensure that Hitchin Conservation Area remains in area of special architectural or historic interest. The boundary areas to be revised are: Areas added: area to the west (including the Catholic church) and south (including the Ashley Business Centre and along the River Hiz), of Nightingale Road/Grove Road junction; a strip of land adjacent to the north-east side of Park Way; land north and east of St. John’s Path; area including The Avenue, Benslow Lane (western end), Chiltern Road, and Highbury Road (east side): Areas removed: area west of Hitchin Hill roundabout, Park Way; areas east of Park Street, including Park Gate; Upper Tilehouse Street (west of Park Way), Nuns Close (south side) and Old Park Road (south-western and); Queen Street (east side from Windmill Hill to Cannon House) and Hollow Lane (south side) (except land at 40 a -42 inc. Queen Street). A map showing the changes is available for inspection at Planning Reception, Council Offices, North Hertfordshire District Council, Gernon Road, Letchworth, Hertfordshire SG6 3JF, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., Monday to Friday; Hitchin Library, Paynes Park, Hitchin, during normal working hours, and Hitchin District Office, Brand Street, Hitchin, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Fridays.
